Weekend breaks and short breaks in Wales

By Christian Little • Feb 2nd, 2010 • Category: Uncategorized

If you are staying for only a short break or for a weekend, it is important to make good use of the time available. Day or half day trips are generally the key to obtaining the most out of a short trip to Wales, and as luck would have it, there are plenty of activities on the bill.

I have listed below a selection of activities that awaits a visitor on any short breaks in Wales, or weekend breaks in Wales.

There are some country parks worth a visit, where you can try your hand at archery or clay pigeon shooting, or get in a spin on a quad bike or go-kart.

If you feel like go cycling, climbing or walking around the country, you can take as long or short as you prefer. Plenty of trails exist for hikers and ramblers. You could take a short walk of a couple of miles, taking less than half a day, or spend an entire weekend camping and exploring the great outdoors.

For climbers there are half day courses available, especially indoors to enable you to maximise your time wisely. A day at least can be enjoyed in the picturesque Gower Peninsula or the mountains of Snowdonia.

Another popular option is fishing, with a profusion of great fisheries throughout the country, you won’t waste too much time trying to find one.

You can use the evenings or half days to sample some of the culture, visit a museum or art gallery or centre for crafts, or maybe see a performance in the Wales Millenium Centre.

If you are not spending long in the country, you may prefer to stay in one of the delightful holiday cottages in Wales or a B&B. Wales has plenty of high-quality hotels if you don’t fancy catering for yourself or your family, and cosy, family-run B&Bs to give you a taste of home away from home.
