What Is The Value Of Your Used Car

By Christian Little • Mar 20th, 2010 • Category: ARGH!

If you ever need to buy or sell a used car then knowing how to value them is a worthwhile piece of knowledge. There are a few ways that you can determine the value of a used car. The condition of the car, the type of car it is and the amount of miles on the clock will all play a role in the value of the car. Here are some tips about figuring out the worth of used cars. Some people might just say that these second-hand motors are worth as much as people are willing to pay for them.

- You can find out what the prices are for the used car you are buying or selling by looking in one of the many used car magazines available. You can get a rough idea of how much you should be paying or selling a used car for by finding a car with similar specs in the magazines.

- You can find magazines and resources online that will give you a value of a car dependent on different criteria

- You can also find the value of the car by using one of the internet’s many valuation services.

- There is also a rough formula for working out the price of used cars based on their age. This involves taking off 24% for the fact that a car is second hand and then 6% for every year since it was bought new. So a car that was bought for a price of £10,000 will only be worth £7,600 six months later after 24% has been taken off. If the car is owned for a year the value will drop by a further 6% and will continue to drop 6% for every year after that. But you should only use this formula for a rough estimate.

It is also important to remember that mileage and the condition of the car need to be taken into account when deciding the value of the car. If a car has barely been used in the two years since it was bought and is in great condition, it will be valued higher than a similar car which has been driven all over the country and has not been well looked after.

Whenever you happening to be looking for used cars, you may end up much better off by thoroughly researching the cars that interest you. Researching allows you to find the very best used cars for the category you are looking for. When your research is done, you could very well end up with a great used austin or even a used chevrolet.
