Let Your Child Play Kids Games Online Safely

Kids love to play kids games online and it’s a fun way to keep them busy with something. That doesn’t mean it’s without glitches though. Often, kids who are enjoying some internet time will click on something and end up on a site that they weren’t meant to see.

You have a few options when you want to protect kids online. The first thing to do is make sure that the computer is in a public spot. That should be where you can see kids easily. No hiding computers in bedrooms, since this can be quite dangerous and allows for a number of things to go on that you won’t know anything about.

For smaller children, a kid’s browser is an excellent way to go. This will give kids only kid-friendly sites to play on and you can add your own approved sites, as well. It’s also a handy way to let children learn to navigate without having to worry about them stumbling onto a bad site.

Try to avoid sites where kids need to interact with others. Those sites that allow texting between strangers can be a haven for pedophiles unless properly screened. Be sure to check out which game sites kids are using and be sure that they are safe. There’s no reason not to play online games that have security measures in place.

Try installing a monitoring program that will let you know which websites have been viewed. Even if you miss something while the kids are online, you’ll see where they were and can discuss it with them. There are nanny software programs, too, that can block any sites you don’t want kids to see.

Avoid letting children have a private email account. You should know who they are talking to, which sites they are subscribing to, etc. Create an email account that is open to both of you.

Finally, you need to talk to your children. Make sure they understand the consequences of giving out information online and know that their real name, address and phone number, even hometown, should never be revealed to strangers. In today’s world, it’s vital that children are taught to be safe on the internet, as well as in the real world.

Your children can play kids games online and be perfectly safe, but you do need to remember that there are potential dangers out there. Keep an eye on what they’re doing.
